Last weekend, GANADO Advocates assisted ELSA Malta in collaboration with MMSA with the organisation of their annual Medicolegal conference at Fortress Builders in Valletta. The conference included a presentation delivered by Dr Julienne Bencini and Dr Bridget Sultana, who both discussed the different legal and ethical medicolegal aspects which are pertinent to a patient-doctor relationship. Case workshops delved into the meaning of ‘negligence’, ‘standard of care’, ‘consent’ and ‘record-keeping’ which are all important mitigating factors should a liability suit ensue.
