Stephen Attard was a Speaker at the Annual Tax Conference of the Malta Institute of Taxation Published on May 3, 2016 Stephen Attard, the partner responsible for the Tax and Corporate Finance practice at GANADO Advocates, was a speaker at the Annual Tax Conference organised by the Malta Institute of Taxation on 29 April, 2016 with the theme “Towards a Fair & Efficient Tax System”. He addressed the conference on Recent Legislative Tax Changes in Malta, and co-moderated a Workshop on the subject. During his presentation, he analysed the recently enacted Inland Revenue Guidelines on the settlement of property into trusts, the new Inland Revenue procedures in connection with exempt transfers of shares by non-residents in Maltese companies, and recent developments in respect of stamp duty exemptions for Maltese companies. More than 170 tax advisors attended this Annual Tax Conference which was held at The Westin Hotel, St. Julians. The Conference tackled a wide-ranging number of topical tax subjects, including the EU’s Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive, Withholding Taxes under Maltese law, Automatic Exchange of Information, VAT in the EU’s Internal Market, a new Institutional Tax Framework, and Transfer Pricing.
