Employing expatriates – Global Employer Services 2016 Published on October 25, 2016 A seminar on employment law matters and the Malta tax implications of expatriates working in Malta As companies grow and become more global in scope, employment issues become more complex. Amongst the most serious challenges that businesses face today is compliance with multifaceted tax laws and labour regulations. In recent years, it has become increasingly common for foreign workers to move to Malta for employment purposes and this creates various new Malta tax and employment law issues that are particularly entrenched with the fact that such personnel are not Maltese domiciled. Moreover, the increasing international mobility of employees and the ‘uber’ style, self-employed arrangements that are increasing in popularity bring with them a new wave of legal issues that management should be aware of. Deloitte and GANADO Advocates organised a seminar to discuss the Malta tax and legal complexities arising from expatriate employment with practical case studies and corresponding Malta tax and legal implications. The seminar took place on Friday, 25th November between 14:00 and 16:30 at Deloitte’s offices in Mriehel. At this event, Dr Matthew Brincat, Partner in GANADO Advocates’ Employment and Pensions practice, delivered a presentation on Maltese employment law implications for expatriates working in Malta.
