Sylvann Aquilina Zahra to co-chair ERA’s workshop on competition law

On the 9th of November 2022, the Academy of European Law (ERA) will be organising an online workshop on the recent developments and practical challenges arising from the application of the ne bis in idem principle in EU competition proceedings.

This workshop will be co-chaired by Sylvann Aquilina Zahra, a consultant within the competition and antitrust practice. The workshop aims to provide an analysis of the ne bis in idem principle found in Article 50 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and recent CJEU judgements on the application of this principle in competition law cases. The workshop will include a discussion on the interplay between the EU competition rules, the national competition rules and the Digital Markets Act and any potential issues resulting from their parallel application in light of the ne bis in idem principle.
