From its earliest days, Ganado Advocates has been one of the protagonists in local legal practice and has contributed specifically to Malta’s internationally recognised reputation as a centre for maritime law. We are at the forefront of the local ship registration practice, having also been involved in the re-drafting of much of the legislation in this field of law. We are able to handle all specialised legal, technical and administrative aspects of the ship registration process.

Comprised of both lawyers and dedicated administrative personnel, our team has both the legal expertise and the practical insight that allows us to provide assistance in the course of the ship registration process.

The members of our shipping administration team have a diverse background. These include persons with over 20 years of experience in handling Malta flag registration matters, a former seafarer, persons experienced in maritime business administration and logistics, former officials of the Maltese flag authority together with individuals which have an in-depth knowledge of shipping and corporate matters.

Through our successful dynamic of legal expertise and a competent administrative team we are able to offer specialised legal solutions and an efficient registration process.

The ship registration activity remains strong, with Malta focusing on quality rather than quantity. Standards remain high, particularly those relating to security, safety at sea and pollution. The increase in work the firm is experiencing is not simply the result of more operators being interested in Malta, but also the result of clients’ advisory requirements. In more recent times, such requirements are on the increase given the sophisticated environment that the industry operates in and the flag’s determination to maintain standards.
