GANADO Advocates’ Private Client Department attending conference on EU Succession Regulation

Forever committed to investing in know-how, academic preparation and on always being up-to-date on their respective practice areas, a member of GANADO’s Private Client team is attending an EU conference on the EU’s Succession Regulation in Germany during the second week of March.

The conference will cover areas like protection of family members, reserved portion and choice of law, habitual residence of the deceased as well as the interplay of succession law with property, matrimonial property and company law. The conference promises to tackle thorny issues such as drafting testamentary dispositions post August 2015, open issues regarding the EU Succession Regulation, double taxation of successions in cross-border situations, interplay with other areas of law, such as matrimonial property, company and trust law as well as the succession of immovable property abroad.

Besides being addressed by practitioners and University academics who are recognised leaders in their fields, the conference will also be addressed by the EU DG Taxation’s sector head, thereby offering a unique insight into this fundamental EU legal instrument that has revolutionised the Private International Law rules applicable to cross-border successions and thrown out of the proverbial window the principles of lex situs and lex domicilii.
