AML & Compliance Analyst

Working within the Shipping group, the selected candidate will act as a liaison between the lawyers
and advisors in the Shipping group and the Compliance team by:

Customer Due Diligence (CDD) & Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)

  • Conduct full CDD on new and existing clients, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and regulatory alignment.
  • Identify beneficial owners, verify corporate structures, and assess the purpose and intended nature of the business relationship.
  • Apply EDD where higher-risk factors exist (PEPs, sanctions exposure, complex structures, high-risk jurisdictions, adverse media, etc.).
  • Document all findings clearly and consistently in the relevant compliance tools and corporate software.
  • Identify gaps, anomalies, or inconsistencies (e.g., source of wealth vs. customer profile).
  • Escalate unclear, incorrect, or missing information.
  • Ensure risk ratings reflect current and complete information at onboarding and throughout the relationship.

Ongoing monitoring

  • Monitor customer activity through periodic reviews and event-driven reviews.
  • Identify red flags or deviations from expected behaviour.
  • Escalate unusual activity promptly to the CO, with a clear, well-structured rationale.
  • Ensure screening results (sanctions, PEP, adverse media) are addressed and recorded.

Screening & research

  • Perform sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening using screening tools.
  • Analyse potential matches, dismiss false positives, and escalate genuine hits.
  • Conduct open-source intelligence (OSINT) research when needed.

Reporting & documentation

  • Produce clear, concise, and well-structured reports, assessments, and memos.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, easy to follow, and consistently stored.
  • Maintain an audit trail demonstrating decision-making and rationale.

Communication & collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (partners, lawyers, AML & Compliance Team, etc.)
  • Request information professionally and clearly from customers or introducers.
  • Be proactive in asking questions when something is unclear.
  • Support colleagues and share knowledge within the team.

Education expectations

  • ICA Certificate/Diploma in AML, Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • ACAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist)
  • CISI International Introduction to Securities & Investment or Risk in Financial Services
  • STEP Certificate / Diploma (for trust & corporate services)
