Anti-financial crime regulatory advisor
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Anti-Financial Crime Regulatory Advisor to join our growing advisory practice. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing strategic and practical guidance across all aspects of anti-financial crime, including AML/CFT, sanctions, and fraud. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team of professionals, supporting clients in navigating complex regulatory requirements, strengthening their compliance frameworks, and engaging confidently with regulatory authorities in an evolving regulatory landscape.
Day-to-day duties include:
- Advising local and international clients on all aspects of anti-financial crime-related matters (including AML/CFT, sanctions, and fraud);
- Developing tailored risk-based anti-financial crime framework for clients;
- Provide technical assistance on the implementation of the anti-financial crime framework;
- Assisting in the design and drafting anti-financial crime-related policies, procedures, and processes;
- Assisting in the preparation, management, and coordination of regulatory examinations;
- Liaising with regulatory authorities;
- Assisting with the implementation of remediation directives;
- Regular testing through gap analyses, health checks, and internal audits;
- Organising and providing training to local and international clients;
- Working together with a dedicated team of lawyers.
The chosen candidate will also be able to attend and participate in financial crime-related conferences and seminars in Malta and abroad.
The candidate should:
- Have at least 4-5 years of advisory experience within the anti-financial crime field;
- A good understanding of the laws governing anti-financial crime in Malta, in particular those relating to anti-money laundering, counter terrorist financing, and sanctions;
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
- Strong willingness to learn;
- Have a positive attitude towards clients and colleagues;
- Be able to work well within a team; and
- Communicate confidently and effectively.
