The securitisation market in Malta has registered significant growth over the past few years, founded on a robust and innovative legal framework, which is clearly indicative of Malta’s potential.

Ganado Advocates was instrumental to the introduction of modern structured finance techniques to Malta, with a hand in drafting both the Securitisation Act and supporting legislation. We are recognised as market leaders in securitisation, having advised on the establishment of the first two Maltese securitisation vehicles/transactions established in Malta under the Securitisation Act in 2012 as well as on the majority of all Maltese securitisation vehicles/transactions established since then.

Testament to our reputation in the area, the Government of Malta engaged the firm, during Malta’s 2017 EU Presidency, as its lead technical advisor in the EU Council’s final stage legislative negotiations with the European Parliament on the new STS Securitisation Regulation.
