GANADO Advocates participates at FinanceMalta’s 10th Annual Conference Published on May 11, 2017 FinanceMalta’s 10th Annual Conference, that was organised between the 17th and 18th of May at the Hilton Conference Centre, featured a number of local and international financial services experts who addressed delegates on contemporary and current topics affecting the financial services industry. Dr Leonard Bonello, Dr Nicholas Curmi and Dr Matthew Brincat from GANADO Advocates participated at this year’s conference, that has been themed ‘Malta’s Financial Services Industry – Taking the Next Quantum Leap’. Dr Leonard Bonello, Senior Associate within GANADO Advocates’ Banking and Finance practice, participated in a panel discussion about Blockchain technologies, mainly their potential in fuelling global economic growth versus their disruptive effect on existing financial services models, as well as the current opportunities for Malta within this space. Dr Nicholas Curmi, Senior Associate within the firm’s Capital Markets practice and Deputy Chair of the Malta EU Council Presidency Working Party on the proposed EU STS Securitisation Regulation, moderated a discussion about the opportunities for Malta within the changing regulatory landscape. Dr Matthew Brincat, who leads GANADO Advocates’ Pensions and Employment practice and is also the General Secretary of the Malta Association of Retirement Scheme Practitioners (MARSP), moderated a panel discussion about the changing regulatory environment for Malta’s pension schemes.
